As you age, your teeth and gums tend to deteriorate. Lack of care, plaque buildup, or years of wear and tear can cause your oral health to decline, often leading to tooth loss. For many, dentures are the go-to solution, with nearly 50 million Americans using them in 2020. However, just because dentures are common doesn’t mean they’re the best option. Traditional dentures often lack stability, leading to irritation and difficulty speaking or eating. Plus, they don’t address bone loss, causing your jawbone to shrink over time. At Brockley Dental Center, we offer the roundhouse bridge as a superior denture alternative. With this advanced solution, you can have a smile that is beautiful, stable, and functional.
Mini Dental Implants: Your False Teeth Foundation
A dental implant is a titanium post we insert through the gums and into the jawbone that can anchor crowns, bridges, or dentures. Traditional dental implants are 5 millimeters in diameter, which requires an incision in the gums to reveal the bone beneath. A large hole is then made in the bone to anchor the implant. Because traditional implants have multiple components and use an invasive technique, they require multiple appointments over several months. The traditional implant process is effective but invasive and time-consuming.
Mini dental implants are less than 3 millimeters in diameter—about the width of a toothpick. With mini implants, we don’t have to make any incisions, which drastically reduces recovery time. They’re also one-piece implants, meaning we can place them in one appointment with a minimally invasive technique. They are just as durable and strong as traditional implants but without the extra hassle and price.
Because they provide so many benefits, we like to use mini dental implants to anchor roundhouse bridges. These advanced implant dentures offer a stable, secure solution that looks natural, feels comfortable, and functions flawlessly.

What Is a Roundhouse Bridge?
A roundhouse bridge replaces all of your teeth without the big, bulky pink base traditional dentures require. Shaped like a horseshoe, this full-arch restoration is anchored securely with mini dental implants.
Brockley Dental Center offers two main kinds of roundhouse bridge systems.
Semi-Removable Roundhouse Bridge
As the name suggests, a semi-removable roundhouse bridge can be removed, but only by the dentist. We will detach the bridge during your routine cleanings to clean it and ensure it’s in good condition. After your checkup, we’ll place the restoration back on the implants, which remain permanently embedded in the jawbone.
Semi-removable roundhouse bridges are very natural-looking. Unlike traditional dentures, these restorations don’t require a porcelain gum base unless you have a specific cosmetic need for it. For example, if you need lip support or have a higher smile line, we can add pink porcelain for aesthetic value.
We use a method called Fix-on-Six to anchor a semi-removable roundhouse bridge. For this system, we place 6-10 mini dental implants in the jawbone to support the restoration. A key benefit of Fix-on-Six is that it distributes bite forces more evenly using additional anchor points. This balanced pressure reduces stress on the implants, lowering the risk of complications, unlike the All-on-4 system, which uses only 4 conventional implants.
The mini dental implants keep the restoration stable, which provides a more comfortable and confident denture alternative.
Non-Removable Roundhouse Bridge
Some of our patients are looking for denture alternatives with superior strength, stability, and permanence. In these cases, we recommend the non-removable roundhouse bridge, which we permanently cement onto the mini implants. These beautiful restorations will never have to come out of your mouth!
For this option, we anchor the roundhouse bridge to 10-12 mini implants, providing a powerful bite and a natural-looking smile. This denture alternative comes as close as possible to restoring the feel and function of your natural teeth!
Like the Fix-on-Six option, these cemented restorations are designed to perfectly fit the contours of your mouth, only using a pink base to enhance your smile if needed. Because of their unmatched stability and durability, your non-removable roundhouse bridge can last a lifetime if cared for properly.
