Are you tired of your dentures slipping out of your mouth? Sick of denture relines and ineffective denture glue? Fortunately, Brockley Dental Center has a solution! We offer dental implant solutions for loose denture issues, keeping your prosthetic securely in place. Unstable dentures have unfortunate consequences that make life more difficult for patients like you. Speaking and eating can become challenging, sometimes leading to problems like malnutrition or social isolation in loose denture wearers. However, with mini implant dentures, you can talk, eat, and smile freely without fear that your dentures may fall out.
Brockley Dental Center is a Mini Dental Implant Center of America (MDICA), which means our dentists are part of an elite group that specializes in mini implant procedures. As a family dental practice, we pride ourselves on providing excellent care from our family to yours. With 50 years in business, you can trust our compassionate team to restore your smile with mini dental implants.
The Importance of Jawbone Health
When losing a tooth, you don’t just lose the crown, or the portion visible in your smile. You also lose what lies below the gum line, your tooth root. Tooth roots serve two very important functions. The first is to keep your smile in place, anchoring your teeth to your jawbone. The second, however, is to stimulate your jawbone when you bite or chew.
This stimulation is essential to jawbone health; without it, your bone begins to lose mass and volume. Over time, this bone resorption can result in excessive wrinkling around the lips, sunken cheeks, and a drastic change in facial structure.
Unfortunately, traditional tooth replacement methods like crowns, bridges, or dentures can only replace the crowns in your smile, not the missing tooth roots. Bone resorption is often the cause of ill-fitting dentures, as your prosthetic no longer rests perfectly on your jawbone.
While denture relines or glue may fix it, they’re only temporary solutions. Your jawbone will continue to shrink unless you replace the tooth root, too. But what restoration replaces missing teeth from crown to root?
Dental implants! These titanium posts act as artificial tooth roots, both securing your teeth in place while also stimulating the jawbone while you bite or chew. With dental implants, your jawbone can stay healthy while your smile stays full and happy.
However, conventional dental implants are large, and many patients who have suffered bone resorption aren’t eligible for them without a bone graft. Fortunately, Brockley Dental Center offers a more accessible alternative!
Learning About Mini Dental Implants
Mini dental implants are much smaller than conventional implants—almost half the size. We use these implants for patients with less bone, often without requiring a bone graft procedure!
Narrow-diameter implants also require a much less invasive procedure involving no incisions or stitches. We place mini implants using a small pilot hole, which preserves the surrounding bone and gum tissue. This preservation facilitates a faster healing process, which we can accelerate even more through our innovative L-PRF technology. Once in place, these implants have immediate loading potential, which means we can secure temporary or—in some cases—final restorations instantly!
Additionally, mini implants have a one-piece design that provides various benefits. For example, their sleek design allows us to place mini implants in one appointment rather than several. Another advantage is that with a single-piece construction, there are fewer seams and crevices between implant parts that can become breeding grounds for bacteria. This one-piece design reduces the risk of peri-implantitis—a bacterial infection around your implant—which can contribute to implant failure if untreated.
With fewer components, fewer appointments, and often no bone graft necessary, mini implants are around half the cost of conventional dental implants!
Mini Dental Implant Denture Options
At Brockley Dental Center, we provide three unique dental implant denture options, all supported by mini implants. These options are:
- Snap-in denture: Most similar in build to traditional dentures, you can “snap” snap-in dentures on and off your implants easily. However, they lack the typical denture plate that sucks to the roof of your mouth, as they use implants for stability instead! Using 4-8 mini dental implants, we can secure an implant denture or transform your current denture into a snap-in denture if it’s in good condition.
Semi-permanent roundhouse bridge: While technically a bridge, this prosthetic functions as a denture because it replaces the entire arch of your smile. However, instead of a bulky denture base, a roundhouse bridge features a sleek horseshoe design! Secured by 6-10 mini implants, this denture provides great chewing ability and a beautiful look to your smile. It’s important to mention that while you never take this denture out, we at Brockley Dental Center will at routine cleanings.
- Permanent roundhouse bridge: Unlike a semi-permanent roundhouse bridge, this denture never comes out, even at our office. Instead, it stays cemented on 10-12 mini implants to provide excellent chewing abilities and an incredibly natural-looking smile. Though this denture is the most expensive, it is the closest a prosthetic can get to having your natural teeth back.
