Loose dentures may start out as just an inconvenience, but over time, they become detrimental to your overall health! These prosthetics create difficulties with enunciating words, chewing food, and living comfortably, as they tend to slide around in the mouth. Unfortunately, constant motion irritates your gums, creating denture sores. These painful spots make wearing your denture more difficult, further affecting your ability to function. However, using dental implants, we can anchor your prosthetic in place, providing a stable bite! While more effective than traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures still have some limitations that cause patients like you to hesitate. Fortunately, Brockley Dental Center offers the sleekest and most secure restoration yet! With a roundhouse dental bridge, we replace missing teeth with a natural-looking denture that secures your smile for years to come.
Why Do Dentures Loosen Over Time?
Natural teeth have roots that dig into your jawbone, stimulating it as you chew or bite. When you lose teeth, you lose tooth roots, resulting in a lack of stimulation. Unfortunately, without stimulation, your jawbone will begin to resorb, or lose mass and volume, over time.
Bone resorption has many consequences that affect your overall function, including:
Excessive wrinkles: Your lips use your jawbone for support. Without bone, your lips and the surrounding skin may wrinkle or sag.
- Structure changes: While you may not notice it at first, bone resorption will slowly cause your facial structure to change. Gradually, your shifting jawbone will alter the shape of your face, affecting your appearance.
- Denture issues: Because traditional dentures use your jawbone for support, it’s common for their fit to loosen over time. Unfortunately, traditional dentures don’t replace tooth roots, allowing your bone to continue resorbing!
At Brockley Dental Center, we utilize mini dental implants to replace your tooth roots. These small titanium posts anchor your denture in place, restore function to your smile, and prevent jawbone loss!
Why Use a Roundhouse Denal Bridge?
A roundhouse dental bridge is similar to an implant denture in that it replaces an entire arch of teeth. However, that is where the similarities end.
Instead of a bulky gum base securing your smile in place, roundhouse bridges feature a sleek, horseshoe-like design that eliminates the need for a denture base! Like a dental bridge, a roundhouse bridge is a row of replacement teeth bonded together, following the natural arch of your jaw. Though in this case, the arch has a replacement tooth for each tooth in your smile!
Amazingly, this bridge secures directly on your implants with no gum base necessary. This design is an incredibly natural-looking restoration that closely mimics the appearance of your natural teeth. At our office, we offer two types of roundhouse dental bridges.
- Semi-permanent roundhouse bridge: This restoration secures on 6-10 mini implants, providing great stability. While you never remove a semi-permanent roundhouse bridge, we will remove it for you at routine dental visits to ensure the health of your smile.
- Permanent roundhouse bridge: Unlike a semi-permanent roundhouse bridge, this denture is anchored by 10-12 mini implants and is never removed. A permanent roundhouse bridge offers the ultimate stability, allowing you to enjoy all your favorite foods without hesitation! Though a little more expensive, this restoration is the closest you can get to having your natural teeth back.
During your consultation, we’ll discuss which roundhouse dental bridge option is the best for your smile and lifestyle!
The Roundhouse Bridge Process

As always, we start with a consultation.
At your appointment, we’ll take a 3D X-ray of your smile and perform a thorough dental exam. From there, we are able to determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants, depending on the quality of your jawbone. Fortunately, most patients are eligible for mini implants, even without additional procedures to build back bone, due to their small diameter. Once we determine you’re eligibility, we’ll create a custom treatment plan for your smile.
Mini dental implants require only one placement appointment, thanks to their sleek, one-piece design. Using a minimally invasive procedure, we secure these implants to your jawbone. In most cases, mini implants are stable enough upon placement to support a temporary restoration the very same day! Then, in just a few weeks, your implants can anchor a final denture in place, restoring your smile for years to come.
However, your roundhouse bridge will only last as long as you take care of it! Without a proper oral hygiene routine and frequent dental check-ups, your mouth becomes susceptible to infection or disease. Fortunately, if you take care of your new smile the way you would your natural teeth, your roundhouse dental bridge can last a lifetime!
